Hello, Reader!

Welcome to Kimchi Voodoo, my ever so humble website. My name is Kate Gjerde, but for the purpose of this book I used a pen name, Kate Anne Kang. This is where I’ll keep you posted on my latest readings and other shenanigans that I’m up to.

It turns out Given Away won the 2018 Eric Hoffer First Horizon Award for “superior work” by a debut author (memoir category). I was also a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Award. Check out who Eric Hoffer was here.

Given Away is available through Amazon. Buy the book here.

I’m happily married to my best friend, Jon and have two teens: a daughter, 21 and a son, 17. I live in Minnesota where I teach K-12 English language learners. I enjoy solitude and socializing equally. I play in not one, but two Chinese mahjong groups (going on sixteen years), I’m in a book club, and a writing group. For peace and quiet I run with my yellow lab or curl up in my sunny writing room to read. This room is also where the magic happened–my book.

Check under “Musings” for a reading I did for the Listen To Your Mother show, May 2016, held at the Riverview Theater. YouTube: Kate Gjerde.

Here’s my health tip: eat your kimchi. Daily.
